REMOTE / SIGNALLING IN MIC MODE

This useful feature serves three important functions:

  1. Remote switch for cough: Mute the microphone input on the connected channel.

  2. Remote switch for talkback or communication: Activate talkback or communication with the engineer at the mixing console.

  3. Headphones amplifier: Built-in headphone amplifier for clear and powerful audio.

The Audio-jack input connector of the Studio Remote unit needs to be wired to the master of the Airence, Guest, or Announcer outputs, or whichever suits your purpose. For the Airlite unit, you need to wire the Audio-jack input with the ANN Phones on the backplane of the Airlite.

The volume of this signal can be adjusted with the potentiometer on the front of the remote.

The audio-jack output connector is connected to the audio-jack input connector for feeding through (looping) the audio signal.

The S1/S2 jack connector needs to be wired to the channel (Remote) of which you want to mute (cough) the mic input. Use a balanced jack (TRS) cable for all connections.

A wiring schematic will be shown in the specification section below this page.

POWER-JACK

Connect the external power supply (+ 9 to 12 volts) to the Power-Jack connector for operation.

Both switches can be connected to one channel of the Airlab-DT. For more details on functionality, please refer to the Airlab manual.

The Audio-jack connector of the Studio Remote Unit needs to be wired to the master of the Airlab-DT, Guest, or Announcer outputs, or whichever suits your purpose mostly.

The volume of this signal can be adjusted with the potentiometer on the front of the remote. Note that the Airlab-DT only has one remote input and output.

POWER-JACK

Connect the external power supply (+9 to 12 volts) to the Power-Jack connector for operation.

REMOTE / SIGNALLING IN MIC MODE

This versatile feature offers five important functions:

  1. Cough switch: Mutes the microphone temporarily for coughing.

  2. Com switch: Activates coughing and communication with the engineer/producer.

  3. Mic-on red light indication: Visual indication when the microphone is active.

  4. Direct mic connection: XLR to RJ45 for direct microphone connection.

  5. Switchable headphones amplifier: Choose between headphone amplifiers A and B.

A shielded CAT-5 cable must be connected between the Studio Remote and the mixing console's Mic-input channel that requires communication.

Together with the remote control, the Mic-input is directly connected. During broadcast, the announcer can temporarily mute the microphone by pressing the push-button, allowing for coughing.

When COM is activated, the announcer's microphone will be routed to the Cue system, providing an opportunity to communicate with the engineer/producer.

WIRING FOR THE AXUM / AXITE

The Audio-input RJ45 of the Studio Remote Unit needs to be wired to the AXUM or AXITE.

The CAT-5 cable can be connected directly to the CRM card of the AXUM.

In this way, both CRM and Studio signals are available and can be selected with the toggle switch underneath the front panel's Pushbuttons.

The Audio-Input-thru RJ45 can be used to connect more Studio Remote Units to the same Audio Input (in parallel). Always use shielded CAT-5 cable to prevent hum. The shield also serves as the signal ground.

POWER-JACK

Connect the external power supply (+9 to 12 volts) to the Power-Jack connector for operation.
