A X I T E

.  .

The AXITE (based on the AXUM platform) is a new modular completely preprogrammed platform that can grow with you and your organization any time, any moment.

I/O cards can be shared between systems and if you have decided to use the AXITE as your main mixer you can be sure to have invested in a future proof product.

The AXITE can be used for small local 6 fader desktop use as well as large scale (128 processing channels max) production work and everything in between.

Imagine a console where you can decide yourself what a switch/encoder or fader will do for you. Not possible?

With the AXITE this is possible and... you can do that yourself by selecting a function out of hundreds of functions simply selectable from a database in your AXITE/AXUM browser.

You want 2 studios to share the same I/O cards? buy two control surfaces (with their own CRM sections) put them in different rooms and share over your LAN the same I/O rack, no problem for the  AXITE/AXUM platform.

Hardware purchasing choices are straightforward:

Rack ONE accepts a maximum of 21 I/O single slot cards.
Rack TWO accepts a maximum of 37 I/O single slot cards.

The AXITE is completely modular and allows selection out of 2 control surfaces.

We can supply a 6 fader drop through main frame and a 6 fader extender frame to built any number of faders (K-Alps) you need. As technology moves forward and your needs are growing, even our high end AXUM fader panels can be added to the system.

I/O-cards

AXUM CARD

With the D&R AXITE’s modular concept, our MambaNet™ protocol controls the primary portion of the I/O rack. Each I/O card is shared in the network and can be controlled from the network.

The I/O cards together with the rack will behave as a large Matrix in the network. Every inserted DSP card gives you 32 stereo channels with full control over the EQ and dynamics of the audio, a maximum of 4 DSP cards is accepted.

- The huge amount of in- and outputs per card could not be

designed with a dedicated (jack/Cinch/XLR) connector in the

space available on the front of the card.

- By using standard STP cables in every input and output module

a compact and neat cabling can be achieved.

Due to standardization, changes in wiring can be achieved very

easily without the need for soldering.

- These low cost Cat-5 cables are ready made available from us

or from your nearest computer store starting at lengths of 30cm.

  up to 20 meters.

If you need to connect a MICROPHONE to the AXITE, take our 19” break out panel (part number 60882045)

Mount it in your studio rack, hook up a shielded RJ45 (STP) cable between the RACK and this Mic input panel and you're ready.

This also includes the remote wiring! No need to buy twice the amount of expensive XLR’s.

We have six types of patch panels available to choose from, see further below this page..

Axum 19 inch frame

RACK ONE  (3HE) can accept 21 one slot cards.

There are 16 available slots for I/O cards

(5 are used for POWER and Engine card)

Weight is 4.6 kg with an 80% card fill.

AXUM rack double

RACK TWO (6HE) accepts 40 I/O one slot cards.

Two internal power supplies cards (3 slots each on the left side) are necessary as well as one Engine card (2 slots, on the right hand side of the Rack), a redundant power supply is optional.

If you just want I/O routing no DSP card is necessary.

But if you want signal processing one DSP card is always necessary to control 32 stereo channels as a maximum.

More DSP cards (4 max) give more processing channels (up to 128)

A range of I/O cards can slide into the 19" rack to achieve the necessary number of analog and digital in and outputs your studio needs.

Any changes can be performed while ON-AIR.

interfaces for the AXITE

The D&R AXITE interfaces easily with CobraNet™ and Dante compatible devices, it is designed as a long term solution to the needs of broadcast facilities for future innovations and developments in broadcast audio and software.

Dante_logo

This is Dante!

Dante replaces long runs of specialized analog cables between microphones, mixers, processors, amplifiers and speakers by connection through your computer network, effortlessly sending all channels of audio over Ethernet cables with perfect digital fidelity.

All connections are now managed with software, making routes fast, readable and reliable. Because all devices share in the same network, signals can be send between any devices no matter where they are located on a site, with no change to the wiring at all.

CobraNet_logo

This is CobraNet!

CobraNet is a combination of software, hardware, and network protocols designed to deliver uncompressed, multi-channel, low-latency digital audio over a standard Ethernet network. Developed in the 1990s, CobraNet is widely regarded as the first commercially successful audio-over-Ethernet implementation.

CobraNet was designed for and is primarily used in large commercial audio installations such as convention centers, stadiums, airports, theme parks, and concert halls. It has applications where a large number of audio channels must be transmitted over long distances or to multiple locations.

break-out panels

The defacto standard for interfacing digital audio components to I/O racks is by use of RJ45 connectors with STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cable.

D&R used this breakout system in earlier D&R consoles with succes. The rack-mounted interface units have either balanced ¼” Jacks and/or XLR connectors on the front panel and shielded RJ45 connectors on the back panel that are used to connect to the I/O rack. Below you see a number of passive break out panels.
